Eva Kerer is a contemporary jewellery artist based in Nelson/Whakatu, New Zealand. Her work is often informed by materiality. By combining precious materials with found objects, her work examines the arbitrary value, as well as the meaning and narratives attached to materials. Her practice combines traditional silversmithing as well as experimental techniques exploring our perception of value and craftsmanship further. Using jewellery as a communication tool and medium to comment on societal issues, her work often investigates the connections between consumerism and identity, as well as interpersonal connections.
